Cleverly choosing colours for interior design

Many studies examine the effect of colors on humans. The question of the effect of a room color plays a role for architects and interior designers in furnishing rooms, as well as in psychology, which investigates the connection between a room color and perception.

Colors play a role

You can use the findings of these studies to your advantage when designing your home and deliberately use colors to create a certain mood. Colors evoke certain associations in the subconscious: Red stands for love, green for hope, blue creates trust, and yellow makes us think of the sun.

But colors can do even more for you than just create positive associations. If, for example, you want to save on heating costs, it is worth using warm red tones for wall design. This makes the room appear warmer. For this effect, you don't have to paint the entire room red; instead, you can add color accents with a few sofa cushions and wall stencils. This achieves the same effect.

Green not only evokes hope but also promotes creativity and is therefore particularly suitable for the study and children's room. Orange, on the other hand, stimulates appetite and is particularly suitable for the dining room or for color elements in the kitchen.

Even in rooms with little daylight, you can achieve a friendly and bright effect with sun yellow. A gentle lilac, however, is suitable for low ceilings. These appear translucent due to the light purple tones. Light blue is the best choice for small rooms, as it makes them appear larger and also makes the room feel cooler.
